Glowing algae

Some algae can make their own light, this is called bioluminescence. You can easily keep it at home. Bioluminescent algae grow in sea water and need nothing more than daylight. Give the bottle a shake after sunset and it lights up bright blue. A fascinating 'pet', and a truly original gift.
